An impromptu post

I think I've mentioned that I'm in the process of crocheting squares for a blanket. I've started off with ten colours, each square being made up of three rounds and trimmed with white. Curiosity got the better of me and I started to try to work out how many unique colour combinations I could have – mentally I got to 300. However this morning I needed to prove to myself that I was right so I got to creating a spreadsheet – my first stab ended up at 700 which surprised me greatly, however John decided that he knew best and that my methodology was flawed. He took over lappy and proceeded to bash out his own combinations at which point son 1 came into the equation – he came up with – wait for it- 10,000!! I knew thought that this was way too high so John persisted with his formulas which brought us 720 – let me tell you that to get to this he has typed every possible colour combination into Excel! He then proceeded to mark of what I had already done and to tell me what future combinations to use to ensure an even spread!

It was at this point that son 2 arrived home – we were mid count/thought/conversation at this point. He took one look at us and proceeded to have this 'conversation' with his mobile phone:

'Hello, do you take old people who do strange things?'

'Oh good, I've got two for you here, they may need to be sectioned though'

'You'll come and get them – great, I'll have them ready!'

That boy – he's got such a sense of humour – at least I hope that's what it was. Laugh – I nearly cried! Must get back to my crochet hook – watch this space for updates!

  1. This was really cute! Kids do say the darndest things don't they? There used to be a clinic for people with shall we say "nervous disorders" down the road from my husband's employer. Whenever one of his workers would go round the bend, he would pick up the phone and say "Charter Lane, we have a pickup!) Have a great week. Kathy
