Tough Love v Smacking - Good Argument

Most people think it improper to smack children, so I have tried many other methods to control kids when they have one of 'those moments.'

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and chat.

Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, iPod, etc.

Either way, the child usually calms down and stops misbehaving after our car ride together.

Eye to eye contact seems to help a lot too.

Due to the success I have had I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the same technique.

This works with grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as well as friend's children……..

  1. Why, oh why did you not post this 2 weeks ago when I had a 3 yr old and an 8 yr old in the house??!! Just kidding, they were really pretty good, I just forgot how "busy" they can be. Thanks for the belly laugh, I needed it today. Kathy
