Q is for …

…, err, queue! That’s right give us a line of people and us Brits will join it! Generally we are a polite bunch and don’t take offence too easily but if somebody tries to jump in in front of us, heaven help them! We will turn into a baying crowd, demanding the queue jumpers head on a plate or more. In recent years the ‘zig-zag’ queue has been introduced – you know the type with several posts joined together with a seatbelt type fabric so everybody starts off at the same point and then spits off at the end. At least  that way you seem to move along most of the time and there’s no tendency to hop across the different lines. However, I have to say that nobody does queues quite like the American theme parks, they’re very clever the way they switch the direction of the line to give the illusion of moving faster – always amazes me!

Anyway, enough of my waffling on about people standing in a line – let’s have a look at Jenny's other entrants in Alphabe-Thursday

  2. Disney is genius at disguising the length of the lines. And of course, once you are half way through and realize how long it is, you really hate to step out. Fun idea for Q. Kathy

  4. I love it when people stand in queues. In my area of the world some people try to get around standing in them.

  6. Good Q-word. Standing in a queue is what we do a lot in our daily lives. The Swedes are experts at standing in queues. Queue-hopping is frowned upon here!
    Great Q-post!
    Best wishes,

  10. VERY Clever! Disney has this down to a science - they can even trick you into thinking it almost your turn only to find out you have 40 more miles of indoor line ahead...

  11. This is one of my very favorite Q words!

I always try to work this into a sentence when I can...which is rare...so it was wonderful to see you use it and use it so well!

    Love the illustration!

Thanks for this fun stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "Q"!

    A+

  16. I think the absolute worst queue jumping offenders are the Italians. They just push on ahead like there is no queue to begin with! Ah, but the English what a lovely polite crowd!

  17. Great word! When we first came to China queuing was an unknown phenomenon, talk about frustrating. But it's gotten better. In Hong Kong, however, they have always been excellent at it and polite. Your picture is great too. Fun post (and blog) to visit. :)
